The fruit is set and the vines are growing like crazy. We have already pruned three times and all of this rain has made them crazy! Anytime you come out feel free to walk around out in the vineyard and view the fruit. Just check in with one of us first to make sure we haven't sprayed very recently. The red grapes have already started turning color and the starlings have found them!! As a result of that we have already netted all the rows of red grapes. That's what the green is that you see out in the vineyard. We prefer to make some red wine instead of feeding the birds!! While you are out strolling take a walk behind the barn and admire the amazing mural that Dick Eyestone painted back there. He did a breathtaking job of painting and its almost like you can reach out, pick one of the grapes, and taste them. Now is the time to give everyone a heads up regarding a fundraiser that is going to take place on September 30. Hospice of Wyandot County will be holding the first ever "Grape Stomp." There will be a grape stomping competition, a "Lucy' look alike contest, music, games, food, and of course some wine and beer! Save the date! More info will be coming. We have changed the wines a bit this year. Summer Breeze is a little bit sweetened and our two fruit wines (Fragaria and Razz) are going to be much sweeter. So anyone who likes the taste of sweet strawberries and red raspberries is gonna love these two for the coming season. Our winemaker Joe is playing around with making a blush that will be the combo of two or three of our grapes and this one will be sweet as well. It may take the place of the concord wine we called Grape Garden. The plan right now as far as the brewery goes is to have 3 beers on tap. There is an oatmeal stout that we named "Frogleg." "Dark Side of the Moon" is the name Jake decided on for his honey wheat brew. The third beer is an American pale ale that is called "Blackbird." You really need to come sample them and let Jake tell you the stories behind the names. Rachel and Kerri are continuing to schedule some painting events. Keep your eye on Facebook for these. We have discovered lots of mad skills and some people have even surprised themselves! Don't forget that your first glass of wine, wine slushy, or pint of beer is included in the price of these happenings. Michelle is back with Yoga on the second and fourth Thursday of the month. Ten dollars for the class and a glass of wine or a pint of beer!! She has renamed it "Pour and Pose!" Deanna is coming the third Thursday of the month for a workout class of some sweaty variety. These will take place at 6:30. A new event that is going to take place is "Firsty Thursdays". The first Thursday of June, July, August, and September the Grape Jams will be entertaining us with their awesome tunes! This is a great way to jump start your weekend and just the whole month in general. We have lots of bands and events scheduled. Food trucks are going to be present as well. Keep an eye here on the website, Facebook, and Community Calendar for the current happenings.
